I'm starting to believe in the existence of tables (and other macrophysical objects) again. That kinda depresses me. I liked having reasons to not believe in them.

Oh my goodness, please don't start making Allison crazy with your talk of tables. What about Sitting Kevin and Standing Kevin? You need to give the poor woman a break.
P.S. I not only believe in tables, I believe in pie charts.

Kevin,

Do you have reasons to make the change back to ordinary objects? I'm simultaneously working through van Inwagen and Thomasson to sort this out for myself.

James

P.S. Congratulations to you and your wife regarding Jameson.

P.S.S. Ordinary objects are not something to be depressed about since ordinary objects include books, play station, and lots of other great gifts.

James,

I've come to think that might be an acceptable way to resist Merrick's causal overdetermination argument for eliminativism. I have a paper in progress where I lay out this line of response, and situate it with respect to the other responses that I know of the literature. I'll send a copy of the paper to you via email.

Regarding the PS, thanks! We are very thrilled to have him.

Regarding the PSS, it is trivially true that ordinary objects are not something to be depressed about if they don't exist. :) But I doubt that this is what you mean!

Thank God, you are finally believing in regular old mid-sized dry goods again! To disbelieve in them is, you know, to make God who has given us these as our ordinary categories out to be a deceiver. Bah to causal overdetermination.
