I've been pretty bad at updating the Timpest lately. I tried to get some pictures up tonight on the Singleton blog, and I'll do what I can to post more here regularly. It dawned on me tonight just how tiring of a term it's been:
- preparing for the Singleton
- labor/delivery classes
- finishing my free will book
- starting work on the textbook
- wild fires that almost caused us to evacuate
- two conferences
- work on a number of papers
- editorial duties for the encyclopedia
- trying to convince my empoyer of the merits of paternity leave
- giving a talk for parents' weekend
- some rather serious departmental politics (now there's a story I wish I could tell...)
- teaching a course that I've not taught before
- refereeing for a number of journals
- being out of town for a week, spending time in 4 different cities seeing our families over Thanksgiving (since we won't be able to travel at Christmas)
- beginning the task of putting together a reappointment file
Believe it or not, I'm actually leaving off 2 of the most stressful things (one can't reveal everything on a blog...). On a more positive note, here are some things that I'm looking forward to:
- the arrival of the Timpe-tot
- reading a good novel
- playing in snow (though I may have to wait a while for this)
- Christmas with Al's dad
- seeing some old friends later this month in Baltimore
- mulled cider
Off to bed for the night. I have a wife and dog that need some snugglin'.
