As of this posting, we are not in any imminent danger from the wild-fires raging through SD county. Hopefully it stays that way.
A few details below the fold....
As of about an hour ago, more than 100,000 acres had already burned, and more than 250,000 have been issues mandatory evacuations.
The two biggest fires are north and south of us, with the Santa Anna winds blowing them westward. This map shows the locations of the fires as of 1:30 am this morning:

This next map shows how much they had grown by 9:00am; they are even larger now, and the mayor said it is 'likely' that they will burn all the way to the coast.

USD closed down (though it didn't let us know that until after we were there!)

We've packed some of our most precious possessions in the car. This is, at this point, purely precautionary; and we hope it stays that way.
