Fire Update 4...

Almost 1 pm here, and things are still looking good for us.  As far as I can tell, the fires are no closer to us than they were this morning, and the fire crews seem to be making progress.

The best site I've found for information is the Jamul Blog.  I have no idea who the blogger is, but his niece goes to USD.  I found this statement of his the best summary of things so far:

The mayor of San Diego City has been saying since yesterday that this fire is worse than the Cedar Fire four years ago; for all of us who lived through that fire, such an assessment borders on the incredible.

Over 500,000 people have been evacutated so far, but amazingly enough only 2 deaths reported so far (1 from the fire itself, 1 from transporting ill patients from one hospital to another).  Some evacuees are currently being allowed to return to their homes--and many of them are finding homes to return to.  But >1000 homes seem to have been lost already, and countless others damaged.
