Allison, Riley and I did the San Diego Race for the Cure this morning. This was the third time that we've done a RFTC (the other two were in StL), and the second time we've taken Riley. Unlike previous RFTCs that we've done, they didn't have the miles marked. Now it's only a 5k, so it's shorter than our normal runs. But our pacing was way off (evidently, neither Riley nor I should be in charge of how fast we go). Near the end of the race, there was a brutal hill (which most days doubles as an interstate off-ramp) that really slowed us down--but as soon as we got to the top and turned a corner, we were done. We don't have our official times yet, but the timer near the finish line indicated that we completed it in about 25 minutes. Given that we think our last mile took about 10 minutes, we must have run the first two miles quite quickly. When we crossed the finish-line, the announcers said that Riley was "the first four-legger" to finish. We're so proud! Now, Riley is DEAD-TIRED--he doesn't get up when we say 'treats' or 'nibbles'. It's really cute. Poor puppy. Guess he shouldn't have run quite so fast!
UPDATE # 2 Here is a photo of us right after we completed the race:

I hate it that my wife is faster than me. And much more so than the times reflect here!

Kevin and Allison - CONGRATULATIONS on your participation and high placement. I must admit though that I looked for Riley's pic - didn't they take a picture of the 4 pawed FIRST PLACE in his category?
Don't know much about blogs - hope I've done this correctly.
You both look great!!! Enjoy the California sunshine - we don't have much here right now! :)
God's best blessings to you and also to riley.
