Why I need to drink more coffee...

Allison thinks I'm a geek. One reason is that my iPod is loaded with podcasts from NPR. This week, while listening to NPR Shuffle, I learned some interesting info about coffee. First, recent studies suggest that coffee has more antioxidants than either green tea or red wine. So my triple espresso is good for me. Second, there is a strong correlation between the amount of coffee one consumes and one's chances of developing adult-onset-diabetes. The more coffee one drinks, the less likely one is to get this kind of diabetes (even once weight, overall level of health, age, etc... are figured in). Third, the average person in Finland (man, woman and child) consumes 25 pounds of coffee per year, more than the average for any other country. Given that we go through about a pound per week here, this means that we're on par with the average Fin. I hate being average.
